Hey Jon, thanks for your sharing. Rich and I will be praying for you and your family...
finances are tough when God calls you to live on 1 income. But I applaud your for being faithful to what you feel He is calling you to do.

Rich's mom was sharing about how she could only afford 2 pairs of socks growing up. She would wash her socks every night in the sink, and mend them when they got a hole. 8 of them lived in a tiny NY apt. with 1 bath and 1 sink. Her bed was the pull-out couch in the living room. But she was fine...never felt deprived because that's just how life was for people. When Rich was growing up, they lived very modestly as well-- Rich's mom stayed home with the kids too and Rich's dad was just earning an average income.

The kids saw how hard mom and dad worked and it made an impact on them to not take anything for granted. It taught them to become focused on getting a solid education or being successful in business -- as well as how important it was to save (and Chinese people are savers...I think the National savings rate in Asia is 20-40% compared to -5% in the US right now!).

I'm not sure if our kids would react the same way. Times are so different today!

Anyway, didn't mean this to be a long, drawn out comment!

Let us know if there is anything we can do other than pray! My specialty is helping people save on taxes (I'm a CPA by training), and Rich is pretty good at problem solving.

God bless!
